Hyfe · Patient mobile app
Helping patients understand and commit to a self-guided treatment

Overview
Chronic cough can significantly affect patients' quality of life. For patients who don't respond adequately to medication, behavioral therapy offers an effective treatment option, but access to trained specialists remains limited.
Hyfe developed a six-week digital therapeutic for adults living with persistent cough. The challenge was translating specialist-led treatment into a self-guided experience that patients could understand and consistently follow at home.
I joined when the product was still a concept and led its design through to launch for an 80-patient clinical trial in Japan.
Note: The initial release was developed for Japan, so some of the content shown in this case study is in Japanese.

The platform consisted of two connected products: a provider web app and a patient mobile app.
Physicians prescribed the treatment through the provider app. Patients then activated their treatment and completed a six-week behavioral therapy program independently through the mobile app.
Because patients could only access the treatment with a prescription, we needed to design both sides of the experience: making it easy for physicians to prescribe within their existing workflow, and helping patients understand and complete the treatment on their own.
