From Concept to Clinical Validation: Transforming a therapy into a scalable digital platform used by patients and providers

Background
Hyfe was developing a new digital treatment for chronic cough. I joined as the first hire on the project to prepare the product for a clinical trial, with the long-term vision of bringing the treatment to market.
My Role
- Product ownership: Led the design of a two-sided digital therapy platform, including the patient mobile app and provider web app
- Research & product strategy: Led research with physicians, patients, and domain experts, translating insights into the service model, clinical workflows, and product direction while reducing implementation and commercialization risk.
- Cross-functional alignment: Built alignment across clinical, regulatory, business, and engineering teams, transforming an undefined concept into a product ready for clinical validation.
Before a dedicated Product Manager joined, I also defined the initial product structure, workflows, and requirements that guided implementation.
Outcome at a glance
- The platform was successfully delivered for an 80-patient clinical trial
- Established the foundation for future commercialization across approximately 3,000 clinics.

The platform consisted of two connected products: a provider web app and a patient mobile app.
Physicians prescribe the digital treatment, after which patients activated the prescription and completed a six-week behavioural therapy program independently through the mobile app.
Unlike consumer health apps, patients could only access the treatment after receiving a prescription, making the provider and patient experiences equally critical to successful adoption.
